Gentrification Station hail and farewell: dead trees and sofas
Messrs Hovell and Cowperthwait enjoy a constitutional through Mission Dolores ParkAn important clarification: this morning, in a Craigslist "free shit" posting, I told a fib.
WHAT:
It's an EQ3 CRUSH lounge couch with beautiful carrot-colored microfiber (faux-suede). Consistently a favorite for our wine parties, or curling up with a laptop.
... but: it's missing its legs, ergo, its structural integrity.
We got around this problem by leaning it against a wall, and affectionately christened it "Slouchy the Couchy." (You may have our nickname free, too.)
WHY:
Alas, the new roommate is a decoronormative fascist with hegemonic fixation on constructs like "free-standing" and "has legs". Out on the kerb Slouchy went, where he waits for ... you?
â
Lounge couch: EQ3 CRUSH w/ microfiber upholstery -- needs legs (mission district),
CraigslistOne must never let pass the opportunity to use the term "decoronormative", even at the expense of the truth. However, the truth is that I did not have it in for Slouchy on aesthetic grounds. More simply, Slouchy The Couchy had to go to make way for Treeberg The Newly-Named Christmas Tree.
Photography from Treeberg's acquisition remains embargoed while we consider it for our Christmas card, but you can infer the essential plot.
Christmas tree + convertible = comic gold.
I felt obligated to tip the Delancey Street porters a fair sum for their ingenuity in lashing the tree through our seat-belt harnesses.

Along the cruise home, I felt an acute kinship with
Macy's-parade Rick Astley: we both were traveling slowly, smiling broadly, and being laughed at. At one stoplight, a queenish couple in a Jetta helpfully called out that we had "something on [the] roof." "You're so clever!", I didn't reply, as my mouth was full of pine needles.
Upon his heroic homecoming, Treeberg
belonged in the living room window, so Slouchy
belonged on the curb.

Intending to impart cheer to some furniture-scavenging youth's holiday weekend, I listed him on Craigslist's Free Shit. As it turned out, however, we seem to have imparted cheer to a local outdoorsman's holiday weekend of consuming 40-oz. containers of malt beverage. I believe we came close enough. Karma will understand.

As Rockefeller Square's tree overlooks an ice rink, so now does Treeberg face an expanse of unfurnished living room for roller skating. With some assistance from eggnog, the very thought of this fills me with a warm yuletide glow.

Flatware Roll-up

I've been wanting to make this silverware roll for a while now (two years!) and finally found the time to pull out the sewing machine and whip it up. It only took me about two hours with the stash finding, ironing and sewing. The main reason I made it is to transport my silverware for lunch at my internship, but I wanted to make it versatile. I added the extra "pockets" to accommodate the silverware needed for a picnic for two (with a serving spoon), but can just load it up halfway for everyday lunches. Picture of it fully open & rolled-up here.
Speaking of lunch at work, I've been finding my bento boxes too small to fit a substantial meal and decided to purchase the laptop lunchbox to see how that will work for me. I haven't received it yet, but when I give it a few test drives, I'll let you know what I think.
Check out these lovely flickr groups for lunchtime inspiration:

iGlassware: Will not leave customers at the table disappointed
Most of the bars tend to lose a part of their revenue as waiters fail to ask the customers for a repeat drink. Now here is something which will ensure that customers are served in a prompt manner and they don't lose out on their profits. A team at MERL realized this problem and has worked on glassware which detects fluid levels through high resolution capacitance measurements.
Labeled as
iGlassware, this prototype glass comes with standard microprocessors and passive components. Coil in the table powers the glass which leads to data exchange. Combination of RFID and capacitance sensing technologies has been used in this project to achieve optimum results. In this manner waiter or waitresses serving the tables will get to know that the customer on the table is in need of a drink and would refill their glasses without having to keep them waiting.
Its not only cost effective but will also ensure that your customers are not left disappointment and they continue visiting your bar with the same enthusiasm enjoying drinks after drinks.

Open Question: Why wont my truck start?
I have a 93 explorer. this morning, I drove for about 45 minutes but it wasnt running normal. It didnt want to go over 60mph but the rpm's were much higher than normal. when I let off the gas, the rpm's went to normal but as soon as I touched the gas, it went back high. I got out for about 30 minutes and when I went to start it again, it cranked but was barely idling at all. I give it some gas but it still cut off and now wont start at all. It is still sparking, it has gas in the tank, and I tried starting fluid, but still nothing. There is a small vacuum hose that i noticed was recently broke. Can that cause this problem or is there something else I should try? There is gas and it is sparking so no electrical problems, or out of gas problems. Thanks in advance
